Secret School

Secret School is a platform for interdisciplinary exchange. Not a school that is secret, but rather a school with secrets, we are interested in what we can teach each other and the aesthetics of that process.

HOW WE WORK:

Secret School sessions may not look like classes at all! There is often not a teacher, but rather a group of individuals who want to learn by doing, experimenting, and collaborating. Secret School spans an indefinite number of sessions and range of spaces. Each session is a collaboration with an artist or an existing community. Past collaborations include the creation of a model economy, secret garden tours, and crafternoons. They are accompanied by zines--collections of writing and research with lovely, grainy photocopies that inform each session.

HOW WE SEE THE FUTURE:

In the future, all moments are possibilities to learn, question, and experience enormous amounts of joy. Everyone is empowered with the tools for creative thinking because it is incredibly valued in our society. The sharing of knowledge happens across generations, fences, and political lines. Craft is religion.

HOW WE SEE "WE":

Secret School operates on a mysterious level of plurality, with a deceptive amount of exclusivity. We are exclusively inclusive.

Secret School Sessions thus far:

01: Language with Hong-An Truong
02: Statelessness with Lin + Lam
03: Grow with the K.I.D.S.
04: Gold with Daniel Martin and the NYU team of Economists.
05: Food with Alexander Stewart

Images from Events:

Along with the events, we publish zines, maps, books, and other ephemera to artifact and somehow reflect on new processes of learning. Here is the zine for Secret School 01. Contact me for copies of the others at s3cr37.5ch00l (at) gmail (dot) com
